Shea: A Midnight Visitor: A Story of Unexpected Kindness...

They say God comes to people through people—and I believe it now more than ever.

It was sometime in April, 2025 when my son JP shared a story that stirred something deep within me. But before I get ahead of myself, let me rewind.

During this year’s Lenten season, JP—moved by a quiet call in his spirit—started a daily prayer call at 12PM EST for his friends and invited me and other family members to join him daily.  What began as a simple offering is slowly blossoming into a living altar.  One afternoon before prayer, JP shared an encounter that I know will live in my heart for a long time.

He and his brother KT had returned to their apartment in Brooklyn NY, around 2AM one morning.  As they settled in, a knock sounded at the door in those wee hours of the morning.  As you can imagine it is an unusual, unsettling even—but in what we all later learned to be divine time an Angel sent by God arrived.

....Ding Dong…

JP: Who is ringing my bell at 3AM? - Checks the Ring camera -

JP: Hello? You must have the wrong house.

Shea: Does a Kendrick live here?

JP: Why are you asking? What do you want?

Shea: I found his wallet at the train station. I just wanted to return it.

JP: Opening the door…Oh my God... thank you! Do you have Zelle? I’d like to bless you for this.

Shea: No need. Just take that kindness and pay it forward.

Random Acts of Kindness

That’s all he said.  No fanfare.  No expectation.  Just pure, embodied GRACE!  As a mother with children who now live far from home, I often find myself worrying over small things.  But this moment—this DIVINE encounter—washed over me like holy water.  This encounter even held more meaning especially that day, as I was returning from a funeral.  It signified holding life and loss in the same breath!  I paused.  I praised God and I worshipped God.  I wept at the beauty of God's orchestration.  The Holy Spirit reminded me of the man at the pool of Bethesda—38 years waiting & hoping. How many walked past him, never realizing he needed help to step into healing?  That day, I wondered: how often do we walk past miracles disguised as men?  Shea is one of them!  How many of us discount ourselves and don’t see that we are walking human angels in another person’s life?  Shea’s goodness revealed that when a person becomes transformed, they carry light. Not just for themselves—but for everyone they encounter.

In this “Momentary Thought of a Satiated Mind” moment, these truths were revealed to me:

  1. I received the overflow of Shea’s goodness. Thank you, God.

  2. I was reminded that angels do walk among us.

  3. I was charged to pay it forward—with LOVE.

  4. I remembered the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

  5. And perhaps most powerfully—I learned that God will not rest until what is yours is returned to you.

Your turnI invite you to reflect:

  • What GOODNESS in your life can you pay forward today?

  • Who is the Shea in your story—a human angel who reminds you that the divine walks beside you?

  • What part of your LIGHT will you share to illuminate someone else’s path?

Pay it Forward...

I offer this Intercessory Prayer: For Shea, and for the angels who walk among us:

Adoration  Creator of all things, Giver of all light, the One who knows us by name—I praise You for always going before us.

Confession

Forgive me for the times I judged before understanding, for the moments I doubted what You were doing through others.

Petition

Bless Shea—bless every angel You’ve sent in human form. May their hearts be aligned with Your greater purpose, and may their path be filled with divine favor.

Surrender

I surrender my will, my pride, my fear. Teach me to be a vessel of kindness and compassion, moment by moment.

Thanksgiving

Thank You for the fruit of the Spirit manifesting in this world. Thank You for the unseen hands and silent gifts that bring Heaven closer to Earth.

I Ask, I Allow, God Becomes, And So It Is.

Food for the Soul:

But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness.  Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [[a]that can bring a charge]. – Galatians 5:22-23 (AMPC)
