Passion Over Excuses...
The Momentary Thoughts from a Satiated Mind is a sacred space where Spirit speaks before the fruit ever shows. Where whispers of heaven plant themselves in voice notes and morning commutes and friendly WhatsApp messages. Where prayer calls turn into healing sessions! Oh, and the thought, she’s sometimes that unexpected guest—showing up barefoot, bold, and right on time… even if I’m in yesterday’s sweats and not emotionally ready for company 😅
Recently, I’ve stumbled upon something both startling and beautiful: I’ve discovered the way God has been whispering to me — and I’ve made a conscious choice to obey. Not the “Lord, I’ll do it tomorrow” kind of obedience (you know, the one where tomorrow never comes), but a real-time, “Yes, Lord, I hear You” kind.
This week, the Holy Spirit sent me a few whispers. On Monday morning, I woke up to these words rolling through my spirit:
“And Enoch walked with God.”
Now, let’s be honest: the Bible doesn’t spill much tea about Enoch. He’s kind of like that mysterious relative at the family reunion — the one you only hear two or three facts about, yet everyone still talks about him in awe. Here’s what we know: he was the seventh generation from Adam, father of Methuselah (you know, the guy who lived almost forever), had other sons and daughters, and — oh yes — he was Noah’s great-grandfather. That’s pretty much it. Except… one major detail: he walked with God, and God took him.
That’s it. No epic sermons. No boat-building instructions. No multi-millionaire pedigree…Just a man who walked with God so closely that one day he simply didn’t come home for dinner — because God said, “Nah, you’re coming with Me.” The bible says, God took him up! Enoch did not experience what we will all experience one day when we transition from the human body…God just swooped him up! Ain’t that something!
As I read this, my heart asked burning questions: How does God choose one family line to carry such massive destinies? From Adam to Enoch to Noah… and then to us. What does it mean to truly walk with God?
And right there, two words came crashing into my spirit:
PASSION.
SURRENDER.
The absence of passion is often revealed by the presence of excuses. I didn’t need a theological degree to know this truth — my love life taught me. (Ouch, Lord.) Any man who came with excuses… simply lacked passion. Because here’s the rule of life: when you have passion for something — or someone — you make time. Period‼️
Now you might be wondering: How on earth did we just leap from Enoch to my love life? Stay with me! The Holy Spirit, I have learned, writes better plot twists than Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu combined. As I circled back to Genesis 5:21–24, the words pulsed in me:
“Enoch walked with God.”
And I thought to myself: Lord, when this physical life is over, when my sons stand before my headstone, may their words not just be about what I achieved, or about how much I meant to them, but may they whisper through tears and joy:
“NoNo walked with God.”
Because let’s be real: in a world where Ecclesiastes keeps screaming vanity, vanity! — we are out here losing sleep because we don’t have enough followers on Instagram, sweating our credit scores for shoes that cost more than our rent, and breaking friendships over people’s opinions… all while chasing things that couldn’t care less about us.
Meanwhile, Enoch was just… walking with God. And one day after his 365th b’earth-day, God said, “That’s enough. Come home.”
So, here’s where I land with the thoughts from a satiated mind this week: I don’t just want to hunger to walk with God like Enoch. I want to live in such intimacy with Him that even my children’s children will know it by the fragrance of my being. Not my doing — my BEING!!
Walking with God is greater than anything under the sun. I’d rather be misunderstood, overlooked, even left alone — as long as I know I’m walking with Him. Because intimacy with God changes everything. That’s why Mother Teresa radiated compassion. That’s why the Apostles shook the world. That’s why the saints of old left legacies that still speak today.
And maybe… that’s why God is whispering this to me now. Not just for me. But for us. For you. For the Church. For the everyday people, as Arrested Development once sang!
It’s time.
To lay down lukewarmness.
To light up our passion.
To surrender like never before.
To love God above all things.
When I studied the metaphysical meaning of Enoch, it pierced me:
➡️ Enoch means: entrance into and instruction in a new state of thought — a spiritual consciousness.
And suddenly I understood: God isn’t just asking me to know about Him. He’s calling me into a new state of being with Him.
💭Now, I invite you to reflect…
Take a quiet moment and ask yourself:
• Do I truly desire a deeper walk with God?
• What can I surrender today to make space for Him?
• Can I accept that walking with God requires passion?
• Can I hear Him saying even now: “I’m still waiting… return to My Presence”?

Precious Lord of the Universe,
Your Presence is my home. You are always near, always calling me higher.
Confession
I confess my desire to walk with You fully. Yet sometimes, fear makes me hesitate. Still, here I am, Lord.
Thanksgiving
Thank You for Your patience with me. Thank You for the little ways You draw me close. Thank You for passion that burns brighter than my excuses.
Supplication
Lord, I surrender all that is not of You! Teach me to walk with You — passionately, sincerely, wholeheartedly, authentically. Let me be a light, a living reflection of You. And when that day comes when You call me home, may I hear: Well done, faithful servant!
I Ask…
I Allow…
God Becomes…
And So, It Is.
Amen.
