The Momentary Thoughts from a Satiated Mind is a sacred space where Spirit speaks before the fruit ever shows. Where whispers of heaven plant themselves in voice notes and morning commutes and friendly WhatsApp messages. Where prayer calls turn into healing sessions! Oh, and the thought, she’s sometimes that unexpected guest—showing up barefoot, bold, and right on time…even if I’m in yesterday’s sweats and not emotionally ready for company 😅
When my ears were graced with the rendition of Mery Mercy Me by Debra Winans, a few months ago my ears and heart made summersaults of joy. Yes—full acrobatics 🤸🏾🤸🏾♂️ literally!! For the first time, I truly heard the lyrics that Marvin Gaye wrote so many years ago. Now, of course, we all know this song is a timeless classic. But in that moment, something nudged me—spiritually tapped me on the shoulder—and said, “Listen again…this time with your soul.” And suddenly, the lyrical relevance leapt out as if Marvin had written it just yesterday.
That moment sent me on quite the adventure, a literal full-on holy scavenger hunt; trying to understand this word MERCY. And as Spirit would have it—weeks later, my ears again were captured by a sermon speaking about The MERCY of God.
Before I go on, pause. Take Breath. Allow your upper eyelid to meet your lower eyelid. Then listen to this rendition with your soul:
From about 1:50 the rendition lights my fire and when she says “oh God please make a way” at 3.02 I literally scream with joy with my eyes closed hands lifted, like my soul just kicked the door down and shouted, “Yes, Lord!”.

Fast forward to last Tuesday, I met the word “MERCY” in a scripture that allowed me to delve into this word all the more, because I sense and feel God’s doing a new thing for me in this moment, and perhaps you feel the same way too!
Psalm 102:13 (NKJV)
You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come..
So, by now you know I’m a student of spiritual consciousness and I love to delve deeper into investigating the true essence and meaning of words, and before I do this sometimes my soul will call to create an acronym for a word that keeps percolating in my mind, and this is what I came up with…
M E R C Y
Move
Energy to
Release
Compassion and
Yield
As I continued to dwell on this word, “MERCY” I found out that mercy is not just forgiveness—MERCY isn’t just a plea. It is an invitation. A doorway. A transformation underway. It is the act of seeing from the level of the soul rather rather than the ego.
MERCY is the recognition that only the True Self is real.

MERCY is movement. MERCY is softening. MERCY is surrender. MERCY is allowing Love—capital L—to flow.
When I choose to show mercy, I refuse to define others—or myself—by mistakes, wounds, or the ego's behavior. I look beyond the personality or the injury and see the divine essence still present.
MERCY is the refusal to make pain or wrongdoing the final truth.
Simply put…
Level | Understanding of MERCY |
Human/Ego Level | “I forgive because I choose not to punish you.” |
Soul “Being” Level | “I see who you really are beneath the distortion, and I hold that truth.” |
MERCY is the strength to look past the temporary condition and recognize eternal identity.
What does this mean for me:
To show mercy to myself is to stop defining myself by:
Past decisions
Shame
Failures
Former versions of myself
MERCY says:
I am not the person I was when I was in pain.
I am not bound by old patterns, and I am free to grow and glow.
MERCY is self-liberation.
When I extend MERCY to someone else, I am saying:
I choose to see your divinity, your healing, not your brokenness
I recognize your soul is seeking to remember who you are and,
I trust your capacity to evolve
When you extend MERCY to another, it says…I am calling forth their higher nature, not reinforcing their lower one.
MERCY heals relationships because it refuses to treat others from their place of brokenness!!

The Power of MERCY
MERCY is a creative force:
It dissolves generational cycles/patterns
It releases emotional bondage
It restores unity where separation once lived
It aligns you with Divine consciousness who most of us call God.
To practice MERCY is to align with the frequency of God.
MERCY is the choice to see the loving essence in myself or in another, regardless of appearances, what has happened, what has not happened, what I did or did not do, what I failed to do or what another failed to do.
MERCY is:
Vision beyond judgment
Love over punishment
Truth over ego
Freedom over guilt
When I practice MERCY, I allow:
Transformation
Healing
Peace
Restoration
This is why MERCY makes the latter house(you/me/us) more glorious than the former—because MERCY rebuilds from the soul, not the wound.
💭 Your Turn…I offer these reflection questions to deepen your own inner work:
1. Self-forgiveness
Where have I been judging myself harshly?
What part of myself is asking to be forgiven and embraced?
If I spoke to myself with compassion, what would I say?
2. Releasing Old Identity
In what ways have I been defining myself by my past?
What belief about myself is ready to be released?
What truth do I choose to stand in now?
3. Mercy Toward Others
Who has hurt me that I am still holding in judgment?
What pain might they have been acting from?
What does it look like to release the emotional charge even if I do not reconcile?
4. Calling Forth the Higher Self
What qualities am I ready to embody more fully?
Who am I becoming as I soften and open my heart?
What would life feel like if I lived from mercy every day?
5. Integration
How does mercy bring me peace?
How does mercy shift my energy, my relationships, my sense of self?
🍽️Food for Thought
And so today, I invite you toward MERCY! To practice the sacred act of rising above judgment, embracing the true essence within, releasing the weight of the past, choosing compassion over defense, and surrendering into divine peace.
Create for yourself a MERCY filled impeccable week!.

Wow!
✨ “This reflection on MERCY feels like a mirror held up to the soul — where judgment dissolves, and the divine essence stands uncovered. It’s not just a word; it’s a movement of heaven through the heart. Thank you for pouring light and language into what God is quietly doing in many of us — rebuilding from the soul, not the wound.”
